Where the numbers come from
All nutrition values on this site are taken from Chipotle Mexican Grill's published per-serving nutrition data — the same dataset behind the official Chipotle nutrition calculator, which restaurants are legally required to keep accurate for standard serving sizes under FDA menu-labeling rules. We do not estimate values, average third-party databases, or scrape user-submitted logs. If Chipotle doesn't publish a number, we don't show one.
Percent Daily Values in the calculator's nutrition label use FDA Daily Values for a 2,000-calorie reference diet: 78g total fat, 275g carbohydrate, 28g fiber, 50g protein, and 2,300mg sodium.
How the calculator works
The calculator is straightforward arithmetic, done transparently: it sums the published per-serving values of each ingredient you select, scaled by your portion multiplier (half, single, up to triple). There is no rounding trickery and no proprietary adjustment — the math you see is the math being done. Macro percentages are calculated by calorie contribution (protein and carbs at 4 calories per gram, fat at 9).
What "standard portion" means — and its limits
Published values describe standardized portions: a 4 oz protein scoop, a 4 oz rice scoop, and so on. Real bowls are assembled by hand, so actual served portions vary — typically within about ±15% by our reading of restaurant portioning research and Chipotle's own disclosures. We consider this the honest error bar on any Chipotle calculator, including ours and the official one, and we wrote a full guide on it: How accurate is a Chipotle nutrition calculator, really?
Verification and update cadence
Every page displays its last-verified date. Our process:
- Dataset checks: we re-verify our ingredient dataset against Chipotle's official published data when Chipotle adds, removes, or reformulates menu items, and on a routine calendar review.
- Page-level review: when the dataset changes, every table and worked example that uses an affected ingredient is recalculated — not just the calculator.
- Regional and limited-time items: LTOs (like seasonal proteins) are only added once Chipotle publishes official values for them.
Corrections policy
If a reader flags a number that doesn't match Chipotle's current published data, we check it against the official source, fix it if we're wrong, and update the page's verified date. You can reach us on the contact page. We'd rather be corrected than confidently outdated.
Who we are — and who we aren't
chipotle-nutritioncalculator.com is built by an independent team that tracks macros and eats a frankly unreasonable amount of Chipotle. We are not dietitians or medical professionals, and nothing on this site is medical or dietary advice — it's arithmetic on published restaurant data, organized so it's actually usable. For personalized nutrition guidance, talk to a registered dietitian. We are also not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. — this is an independent reference tool.
Why we built it this way
Because most nutrition content online optimizes for ranking, not for being right. Our bet is the opposite: publish the sources, show the math, date the verification, and fix mistakes in public. If the numbers are trustworthy and the tool is genuinely useful, everything else follows.
